Dr. Maike Luiken joined Lambton College in 2005 as Dean, School of Technology, Applied Science and Apprenticeship, School of Fire Sciences.
Her background includes a doctorate in Physics from the University in Waterloo and a Staatsexamen in Physics and Mathematics from the Technical University in Braunschweig, Germany, as well as extensive expertise in Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and renewable resources. She has over 30 years of professional experience: in academic management, teaching and research, administration, community and network building and especially in connecting industry partners, government agencies and researchers in advanced technology projects.
Prior to her move to Lambton College Maike held the position of Vice-President Research Alliances for the National Capital Institute of Telecommunications in Ottawa. Maike spent the majority of her career with Algonquin College as a professor, a project leader, the Director of the Telecommunications Centre, and the Chair of the Electronics Department. She has worked in the public and private sectors and in Canada, USA, and Germany. She is a founder of the Ottawa Photonics Research Alliance (OPRA), and the Ottawa Wireless Research Alliance (OWRA). Maike is a member of the Board of Directors for IEEE Canada, the IEEE Canadian Foundation, Unmanned Systems Canada, the Sarnia Lambton Chamber of Commerce and the Sarnia Lambton Workforce Development Board.
Her areas of expertise include sustainable development, advanced data communications, leadership and management of applied research and technology development projects in College and University environments.
Maike is a Senior Member of the IEEE and a Fellow of the Engineering Institute of Canada.
