John Breakey
John Breakey is the cofounder and CEO of UNIS LUMIN Inc., a technology outsourcing and systems integration company headquartered in Oakville, Ontario. With a strong management / financial background, he has grown UNIS LUMIN from a home-based business into a major player in the IT industry in Canada.
In 1998, John co founded 1nService, a convergence of 22 US / Canadian advanced technology companies with a head office in Seattle, with a mandate to provide clients with North American coverage. He serves as a Director and Treasurer.In 2002 John formed a software company, Genuit, which developed 2 products: PROMYS, the first comprehensive CRM/ERP software package to be based 100% on web technology, and THINWORX, a thin client software that enables secure, high performance access to corporate data from remote locations or home. Both products are sold internationally through an extensive reseller network.
In 2005 John helped found Sutton Medical Technologies, an Electronic Health Records company specializing in player injury management for professional sports organizations.
John is very active in his local community serving on many advisory committees for Sheridan College, the Town of Oakville and SPARK, a technology incubator that is a joint venture partnership between the Town, Sheridan College and private enterprise. John has served on the Board of a number of community and industry associations including:
- Past President of the Oakville Chamber of Commerce
- Past Chair of the Oakville Economic Development Alliance (OEDA), a public / private partnership of the Town of Oakville and local companies for the purpose of developing economic growth in Oakville.
- Past Director of the Canadian Healthcare Information Technology Trade Association (CHITTA), who's mandate is to promote Canadian Health Care suppliers both nationally and internationally.
- Past Chair of ITAC Ont. (Information Technology Alliance of Canada) and Director of ITAC (Can)
- Past Chair of Innovators Alliance, an association of Ontario's fastest growing companies.
- Chair of the Industry Advisory Committee for CONII as well as newly developed CONII PACS
