DUTIES:
The incumbent identifies opportunities for collaborative applied research and development projects with small and medium sized business and industry, giving special attention to potential for commercialization. Promotes awareness among business and industry of applied research and development expertise and capacity at St. Lawrence College and within Colleges Ontario Network for Industry Innovation (CONII). Assists project proponents in conceiving of applied research projects, evaluating projects’ viability, and in administering projects toward success. Facilitates access to technical expertise and resources at St. Lawrence, within CONII and elsewhere as available. Develops and maintains relationships with key business and industry research and development contacts; monitors and reports on important developments and opportunities in priority sectors; maintains records of current provincial, federal and other research development and project development activities at St. Lawrence for CONII administration, as per reporting commitments to Ontario’s Ministry of Research and Innovation.

Position Summary             Applied Research and Innovation Centre (ARIC)

The Technology Transfer Officer will report to the Director, Applied Research and Innovation Centre (ARIC), Centennial College, and will provide project expertise and legal advice on the start-up, execution and completion of several new projects supported by NSERC CCI funding. This is a part-time contract position for one year, with the option for renewal of the contract for subsequent one-year terms. The projects will aim to deliver Technology Solutions for Healthcare Management and Health Research and Promotion and will engage Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) working in partnership with ARIC.

Salary range: $75,000 – $80,000 per annum

Summary of Duties:

Reporting to the Director of Research Services, this position is responsible for leading applied research and commercialization initiatives to help small- and medium-sized enterprises move promising products, practices and processes from the R&D stage to the marketplace.  The Project Manager/Industry Liaison will create an awareness of the initiative and conduct outreach to internal and external audiences, identify, develop and negotiate projects with small- and medium-sized enterprises, and monitor and report outcomes.
