DUTIES:
The incumbent identifies opportunities for collaborative applied research and development projects with small and medium sized business and industry, giving special attention to potential for commercialization. Promotes awareness among business and industry of applied research and development expertise and capacity at St. Lawrence College and within Colleges Ontario Network for Industry Innovation (CONII). Assists project proponents in conceiving of applied research projects, evaluating projects’ viability, and in administering projects toward success. Facilitates access to technical expertise and resources at St. Lawrence, within CONII and elsewhere as available. Develops and maintains relationships with key business and industry research and development contacts; monitors and reports on important developments and opportunities in priority sectors; maintains records of current provincial, federal and other research development and project development activities at St. Lawrence for CONII administration, as per reporting commitments to Ontario’s Ministry of Research and Innovation.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Four year degree in Business and/or Science (or equivalent), with a minimum of five years of business experience, preferably in manufacturing or an industry-based research laboratory. Solid understanding of business and industry functions and processes required. An equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may also be considered. Advanced written/verbal communication skills essential, combined with a solid understanding of research administration best practices. All candidates must be well organized with demonstrated ability to assess industry needs and project viability, lead multiple initiatives, facilitate/monitor research activities, set priorities and meet milestones.

Payband “J”
Start: $33.55 per hour / 35 hours per week
Range: $33.55 - $38.90
