Tenet wins GOLD for Best Mobile Solution at Canadian Channel Elite Awards with PINpoint for BlackBerry®

Tenet Computer Group Inc. is the Gold Winner in the Best Mobile Solution category at the CDN Channel Elite Awards, which recognizes IT providers for their innovation, leadership and commitment to creating value for their customers.
The winning entry centered on the implementation of PINpoint for BlackBerry, Tenet's mobile emergency management application, at Toronto's Bridgepoint Hospital, with a specific focus on Pandemic Preparedness and Response.
In the aftermath of infectious disease outbreaks, such as SARS in 2003 and H1N1 in 2009, significant emphasis has been placed on healthcare emergency preparedness. Consequently, this project was partially funded by Canada's Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) and the Colleges Ontario Network for Industry Innovation (CONII).
The project was a collaborative initiative involving Tenet Computer Group Inc., Bridgepoint Health and the School of Emergency Management of George Brown College, to implement and assess Tenet’s emergency management software. Tenet’s PINpoint™ for BlackBerry® application was deployed to allow the healthcare provider to rapidly disseminate information related to breaking public crises in an effort to contain and mitigate damage, injury and death.
Leveraging PINpoint’s secure data collection and distribution technology, Bridgepoint Health worked with Tenet Computer Group to mobilize its existing emergency toolkit. “In an emergency setting, having up-to-date information at your fingertips is vital – our BlackBerry solution makes getting that accurate information easy,” stated Carlos Paz-Soldan after accepting the prestigious award at the gala event.
PINpoint automatically collects information from internal or external systems, and pushes it to designated BlackBerry smartphones. Pushed information, including documents and contact lists, is stored in the BlackBerry cache memory, thus ensuring that it will be available when users need it, even if systems are down or unreachable.
